Julian Sheres was born and brought up in Washington, D.C. His work was exhibited there in the Corcoran Gallery and the Smithsonian Institute.
At the beginning of 1950 Sheres moved to New York City. One of his paintings was included in the exhibit “American Painting Today, 1950” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Painting has always been a pleasure for Julian. Often it has been a struggle too. But when he has gone back into his studio and looked at the result of what he did the previous day and felt the satisfaction of achievement, he experienced great pleasure.
