Bitter are, by definition, flavor extracted from herbs, spices, flowers, roots and barks preserved in alcohol. Bitters are used to balance the sweetness of a food or beverage or as an additive that flavors something with little or no flavor. Unlike extracts that most people are familiar with, vanilla or almond, artisanal bitters are created by culinary artisans using often complex, sometimes simple, blends to create just the right flavor and level of bitterness to achieve their idea of perfection. Then, mixologists, chefs or anyone looking for a way to make their own perfect beverage or food use anywhere from 4-7 drops at a time.
For all those looking for hydration and refreshment, keep 5-10 different bottles next to the Carbonator. Fill your glass with ice, hit the cubes with drops of any bitter, then add the soda water… drink!
